INFORMATION DESIGN: SAVE THE HONEY BEE

ROLE: EVERYTHING

Created for fun and my love of the honey bee, this is my most recent web design project. Honey bees are crucial to American agriculture, so I wanted to design something cute and fun to reach out to those who might not realize just how important they are. I gave the honey bee emotions and speech for people to better relate to, and of course kept the colors bee themed. Through this website, the user would be able to find about more about the honey bee crisis, get recent honey bee related news, and find out ways they can help.

INTERACTIVE ENVIRONMENT: FANTASTIC SCIENCE

ROLE: EVERYTHING

For this project I chose to create the environment of a mad scientist, which I titled "Fantastic Science". As you can see, I loved the title so much, I decided to buy a domain and make it my portfolio. These are the design comps for what it would be like if the user were to explore the panoramic environment. The goal of the user is to find the clickable items in this lab, while meeting the demands of said clickable items, in order to escape before getting caught. The panoramic environment was illustrated in Photoshop CS4, as well as the comps, the different elements were then brought into Flash and implemented. These screens were taken from the Flash version.

TEAM PROJECT: SUMO SHOWDOWN MINIGAME (VIDEO LINK)

ROLE: DESIGN, VIDEO EDITING

Created in 2010 for New Media Team Project, a 20 week course in which I worked with seven other people (New Media Design and New Media Development majors alike). Our team did an interactive installation titled "Sketchbox" where the user(s) controlled the game by means of moving around in different directions. We had a total of four different minigames, and Sumo Showdown was the minigame I personally came up with, as a result I was given the task of designing the comps for the game. The first image shows the final comp, while the second shows the process I went through to get to the final version. The final two images are the interactive icon/logo I designed for when the game is selected from the hub world screen. In this game each user controls a different sumo wrestler by moving left and right. The more food you collect, the fatter you get, and after the alotted time is up, whoever had the most food wins. However, there are also objects which can stun you and 'take away' from what you've already collected - these are all non-food items such as bombs and knives.

MINIMALIST POSTERS: DISNEY

ROLE: EVERYTHING

For this assignment we were given total freedom, the only objective was to create a piece we'd like to add to our portfolios. I have always been a fan of Disney movies, and I couldn't think of a better way to end this class then remake a set of Disney movie posters using a minimalist style. This style was inspired by a series I saw someone online do for popular TV shows. These were all created in Photoshop CS4.

INTRO TO PHOTOGRAPHY: NARRATIVE

ROLE: EVERYTHING

Created in 2010 for my Intro to Photography course. The goal of the assignment was to create some kind of narrative. I chose to go with something simple and mundane, such as my daily routine, and give it a little twist to make it more interesting. I first made some doodles on post-it notes and then pasted the post-its to one of my brick walls at home. Photos were taken with my Canon Rebel XSi and edited/color corrected with Photoshop CS4.

DYNAMIC TYPOGRAPHY: TV INTRO BOARDS

ROLE: EVERYTHING

Created as the final project for Dynamic Typography, the goal was to create a fake television introduction. My design inspiration came from the opening titles to the movie Juno and the sketch-style of the characters in the Nintendo DS game Hotel Dusk. I chose to create an intro about a typical after school club focusing around a bunch of students with different art talents who all manage to come together despite their differences. These are the flushed out boards, created in Photoshop CS3.
